About Us

The Nordic Centre in Shanghai is a joint-venture between Fudan University, The Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) and 27 Universities from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, It is a meeting place for Nordic and Chinese scholars and students.

Its main tasks include acting as:

  •  A platform for initiating and developing research and educational programmes, activities, conferences and workshops of mutual interest to Nordic and Chinese scholars.

  •  A teaching institution for Chinese students and scholars to pursue study of the Nordic countries, and for Nordic students and scholars pursuing study of China.

  •  An organiser of programmes and courses for Nordic business communities in Shanghai.

In addition to the usual duites listed above, we also (co)organise various cultural events such as national days, concerts, movie nights, book lauches and so on,  in order to promote our member universties and the national images of the Nordic countries in general.
